Gahaya Gallery is an online art gallery created to help underrepresented African artists share their stories, showcase their work, and earn income through meaningful art.
Every piece carries more than colour, texture, and design. It carries a human story from across the African continent. We connect art lovers, supporters, and collectors with artists whose creativity deserves to be seen, valued, and supported.

More Than a Gallery
Behind every painting, print, and design is an artist with a journey, a voice, and a reason for creating. Our mission is to give artists a platform where their work can be seen, their stories can be heard, and their creativity can become a source of sustainable income.
We believe art is not just something you hang on a wall. Art can carry memory, culture, resilience, beauty, and hope. When you buy from Gahaya Gallery, you are not only purchasing artwork. You are standing with the artist behind it.
Our Debut Artist
Gahaya Gallery is a growing initiative, and we are launching with one artist we believe in. Ivan has his own story page where you can learn about his journey, see his creative process, and explore the pieces he has created. More artists will join as the gallery grows.

Featured Artist Story
Our first Artist's story - MEET IVAN
When I first met Ivan Mapike, I wasn't just meeting an artist. I was meeting a survivor, a dreamer, and someone who refuses to give up despite circumstances that would overwhelm most people.
Ivan is a 36-year-old Rwandan artist and a survivor of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. He was the only survivor in his family. Without the opportunity to continue his education, life has been marked by hardship and uncertainty. Yet through it all, he has held onto one thing: his ability to create.
Today, Ivan lives in a small rented room in Rwanda. His monthly rent is only $50, but even that can be difficult to afford. Some days, finding enough food to eat is a challenge. Like many talented artists across Africa, Ivan's greatest obstacle is not a lack of skill or creativity, it is access to a market willing to see and value his work.
Every painting Ivan creates carries more than color and canvas. It carries resilience. It carries hope. It carries the story of a man rebuilding his life one brushstroke at a time.
When someone purchases one of Ivan's paintings, they are doing much more than buying art. They are helping pay rent. They are helping put food on the table. They are helping an artist continue creating instead of giving up.
Ivan dreams of building a stable life, supporting himself through his craft, and one day starting a family of his own. Like many artists, he doesn't want charity, he wants opportunity.
His story is one of the reasons Gahaya Gallery exists.
Our vision is simple: connect talented artists like Ivan with collectors and supporters around the world who believe that art can transform lives. By creating a platform for artists whose voices are often unseen, we hope to turn creativity into sustainable livelihoods and dignity into opportunity.
Ivan is the first artist joining this journey. We believe he will not be the last.
Thank you for helping us tell his story.

Artist Manifesto
By Ivan Mapike
I paint the people I know.
I paint mothers walking home after a day's work.
I paint children who find joy with very little.
I paint villages where neighbors still know each other's names.
I paint evenings when families gather after long days and simple meals become celebrations.
These moments may seem ordinary, but I believe they are the moments that hold life together.
My paintings are not about perfection.
They are about perseverance.
They are about hope that survives difficult seasons.
They are about communities that continue to love, work, and dream.
Through my art, I want people to see beauty where it is often overlooked.
I want someone, somewhere in the world, to look at these paintings and recognize the quiet strength of everyday people.
Because I believe ordinary lives deserve to be remembered.
And I believe dignity is one of the most beautiful things we can paint.
The Shop
Every piece in the shop is a fine art print: a high quality reproduction of an original physical painting, produced on archival stretched canvas or Framed Canvas. The original paintings stay with the artist, and each print you buy helps support him directly.

Art should not only be admired. It should also help artists build a better future. Every purchase helps create income and opportunity for the artist.

A Message From the Founder
Gahaya Gallery was created from a simple belief: artists should not have to struggle in silence while their work carries so much beauty.
I have met artists whose talent is powerful, but whose access to buyers, platforms, and opportunity is limited. Gahaya Gallery is my way of building a bridge between those artists and the people who would love, value, and support their work.
This gallery is not just about selling art. It is about restoring dignity, creating opportunity, and allowing artists to tell their own stories through the work of their hands. Thank you for being part of this journey.
